Burn Ban in effect for Buncombe County, Town of Black Mountain

Effective Thursday, February 27 at 2 p.m., the Buncombe County Fire Marshal’s Office has issued an open burning ban due to extreme fire danger, including low humidity and strong winds. The ban covers all open burning except for small cooking, warming, and recreational fires under three feet in diameter. The county burn ban remains in effect until Wednesday, March 5 at 9 a.m., with possible extension. NOTE: It is never legal to burn anything other than naturally occurring vegetation and open burning is never permitted within city limits including Black Mountain and other municipalities.

We know these burn restrictions may be frustrating, but your patience and cooperation mean so much. By following these guidelines, you’re not just keeping your own property safe, you are helping protect your neighbors and our entire community from the risk of devastating wildfires. Your support truly makes a difference, and we deeply appreciate it.
